About us...

INPA was formed in 1987 by Dr Nick Parker to provide consultancy and services in electronic and software systems design and technical training.

Nick has over twenty years experience in applying electronic and computing technologies to solving real world problems.  His academic background comprised a BSc in Electronics and a DPhil earned through research leading to commercial, microprocessor based Automatic Test Equipment systems.  Nick then joined GEC's Hirst Research Centre where he headed up a laboratory of 90 engineers and some 30 R&D projects in VLSI (integrated circuit) design, Computer Aided Design software development, and algorithms for speech, image and signal processing.

In addition to more substantial, long term projects (see our portfolio for examples) we have:

  • a long history of involvement in computer communications, email, file transfer and dial-up networking systems for online technical support;

  • developed image processing and targeting software for guiding numerically controlled machine tools;

  • helped in development of systems for monitoring radiation exposure in nuclear facilities, and consulted on the design of phase-lock loop sensors for measuring gas flow.

Our extensive customer list includes Alcatel, Avery-Berkel, Bull, BT, Carat, Creative Labs, EMAP, GEC, H J Heinz, Hewlett-Packard, Microsoft, Siemens-Nixdorf, Thorn-EMI and US Robotics alongside many smaller organisations.
